So, you want to get fit, drink some beers or just have a good day out?  Whatever one it is, you've got a choice to make.  Nottingham is famous for some of its sporting activities and less famous for others.  Nonetheless there are plenty of sporting activities in Nottingham for you to get involved in.  In fact, you are spoilt for choice.  Have a look around these pages for some ideas and venues at your disposal.

Cricket @ Trent Bridge

One of the world’s oldest major cricket grounds, Trent Bridge is home to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. This famous cricketing landmark ground is also one of only six venues in England where test matches are staged.

With a 15,000 capacity, the prestigious venue has hosted over 1,400 first-class matches in its history. In August 2005, Trent Bridge hosted one of the prestigious Ashes matches - England v Australia, Fourth Test - where England won by three wickets. Their first win over the Aussies at Trent Bridge since 1977!

With 34 centres nationwide, modern facilities and all-weather floodlit pitches, Powerleague are the champions of 5-a-side.

They provide competitive leagues at all of their centres with up-to-date information on upcoming matches and your opposition available through their centres and all games have an FA qualified referee.

Or you may prefer to play social games and their pitches can be booked for one-off or block bookings.

Golf @ Riverside

Golf was first played in Nottinghamshire on common land at Bulwell more than a century ago (Bulwell Forest Golf Club now stands upon this site).

Nottinghamshire is a true golfer's paradise: with 31 golf clubs affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs.  There are 15 private clubs, and 15 commercial - open to the public on a 'pay and play' basis.  There is one municipal course.

The closest one to you is The Riverside Golf Centre, cheap and worth the visit.

Ice Hockey @ The National Ice Centre

The recently built £42 million National Ice Centre provides Nottinghamshire with a unique multi-purpose entertainment centre containing the following facilities:

Rugby @ Nottingham RFC

Promotion to National League One in 2004 marked the start of a promising new era in Nottingham Rugby Football Club's 126-year history.

Attracting regular crowds of between 800 and 1,500 people at its Ireland Road ground in Beeston, Nottingham RFC has produced numerous international players – including Brian Moore (Nottingham RFC’s first British Lion).
